As we look forward to the future, one thing remains clear: Hartlepool’s residents want to see real progress. They want to feel that the elected leaders in their community are focused on their needs and not lost in political drama. That’s the foundation we aim to rebuild.
Our past achievements should be a point of pride, not just for the work done but for what they represent. The investments in Hartlepool’s infrastructure and services, such as £13 million for our hospital, £25 million from the Town Deal Fund, and millions more in improvements to transport, schools, and leisure facilities, were all delivered with the goal of improving life for our residents. We should continue to be proud of that legacy and build on it, ensuring the work that was started continues to benefit the community.
But we know that trust must be rebuilt, not just through past achievements, but by listening and responding to the concerns of our residents today. The defeat we faced last year was painful, but it also offered us the chance to reflect and re-engage with our core values. The message from Kemi Badenoch, during her recent visit to the North East, was clear: we need to return to the values that matter and address the issues that affect real people. Trust isn’t built overnight, but it can be rebuilt through transparency, accountability, and by showing residents that we are working hard to improve their lives.
Locally, we have time to show we are a united and confident team, focused on Hartlepool’s priorities. With no local elections in 2025 and the next general election in 2029, we have the chance to focus on rebuilding trust at a grassroots level. We know that Labour’s policies are already taking a toll on families and businesses, including raising Council Tax to the maximum allowed. It is vital that we continue to hold them accountable, pushing them to deliver the best for our community.
At the same time, we must also be proactive in our approach by engaging with residents. You want solutions, not politics as usual. You want your lives to improve, and it’s up to us to make sure you feel that the Conservative Party is a force for positive change. Through upcoming events and social gatherings, we will reconnect with existing members and invite new voices like you to join us. It’s about coming together to build the future of our town and our party, ensuring that we not only regain trust but continue to grow our influence.
Let’s remember: people in Hartlepool want to see their community thrive, and they want to know that the politicians they elect will work tirelessly to make that happen. It’s time to build on our past successes and chart a path forward that reflects the values we hold dear and the future we want to see for Hartlepool. Together, we can rebuild and lead the way once again, but it starts with a challenge aimed at Labour for their poor policy choices and their high taxation so that we can ensure better outcomes like jobs, growth of industry and true investment - like we started - to bring lasting prosperity to the Borough.
Thank you for your continued commitment, and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
